TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON RECENT ADVANCEMENT ON MACHINE LEARNING (RAML)-2020

On 7th and 8th of March, 2020 the department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a workshop titled “Recent Advancement on Machine Learning (RAML-2020)”. The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Ms. Madhusmita Samal (HoD, CSE) with Mr. Ashish Singh Saluja (Asst. Professor, CSE) and Mr. Sohan Pande (Asst. Professor, CSE) as convenors of the workshop and Ms. Slokashree Padhi (Asst. Professor, CSE) as the co-convenor. The workshop started with the Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Mishra, the Chief Patron of the workshop Director, SIT Sambalpur. The Resource Persons were Dr. S. K. Panda (Asst. Professor of CSE , NIT Warangal) and Dr. S. Panda (Professor of ECE, VSSUT Burla) for the two respective days. Most of the students of CSE, ECE and EE from all semesters participated in this workshop. Dr. Panda on the day-1 delivered a stimulating and insightful session on Machine Learning addressing certain key issues like ‘What is it?,’ ‘How this comes into play?’ and ‘What are its future scopes of improvement and for how many years it will be in the market.’ Machine Learning system, being a subset of AI (artificial intelligence) generates new projects and creates new impactful ML systems. ML explores  the area of algorithms which can make high end prediction on data. Overall students learnt the basics of working with various Machine Learning frameworks.

On day-2 of the workshop the resource person focused on the use of MATLAB i.e. its meaning, codes, command usage etc. This was a great session for students of all branches as this is going to be in their course of study now or later. The workshop was over by 2 o’clock in the afternoon. In the valedictory session the resource persons were honoured with a memento as a token of gratitude from the institute and all the participants were presented certificates of participation. The student members of the organizing committee and the coordinators of Silicon Robotics Club left no stone unturned in making this workshop a great success.

ZREYAS– 2K20

Silicon Institute of Technology conducted its two-day Annual Function “ZREYAS-2K20” and Technical Fest “TECHSTACY-2020” on 1st and 2nd of March 2020.  This year Techstacy received an overwhelming response for all its events that made the fest a grand success. The students from first year to final year started preparing for the events a month in advance. Techstacy included various technical and non-technical events guided by members of faculty and coordinated by the students of third and fourth year. The main attractions of Techstacy in its technical events were ROBOWAR and ROBOFIFA. In the category of non-technical events NON-TECH ROADIES and TREASURE HUNT stole the show. The students participated in all the events with great zest and zeal. The cultural renditions of “ZREYAS” brought a soothing breeze to the evening. The main attraction of ZREYAS-2K20 was the PUPPET DANCE by 1st year and the INDO-WESTERN RAMPWALK by students from first to fourth year. The cultural night concluded with a DJ NIGHT by DJ AZEX where no one could stop themselves from moving their feet with the beats. The participating students of different events were presented certificates and awards. The Tech-Fest’s imprints will always remain with every Siliconite.

The Deadly Pandemic in 20s

 As long as the history being concerned, nature moves like a cycle it starts from there where it has ended. The world is facing a pandemic in every 100 years like the one outbreak of great plague in 1720  of Marseille, France. The second one being the Cholera pandemic in 1820 of Asia , the third one is the Spanish flu outbreak in 1920 , and the latest covid 19 outbreak in china . This may be termed as the theory of 100 years. This deadly pandemic covid 19 was first born in china due to eating the meat of the bats. These bats are the most of the vectors for these pandemics. The deadly Ebola virus was also a gift of these bats. The china was exponentially got affected by this corona virus within month and about a million or above cases are determined positive and many among died. The rate could be 67 times more if the Chinese government had not taken the steps to stop this. From china the second prey of this pandemic was Italy in which the deadly virus affected many people and among them the most got died due to lack of medical treatment. The survey says that Italy has a capacity of 12.5 critical beds for medical treatment on the scale of 20. Even with these much of the corona spread can’t be flattened.

Being India is developing country and neighbor to china India tied its waist tight to fight against these pandemic from the day zero itself. But even after taking all the prerequisites and measures against these pandemic today India has 125 number of positive covid 19 cases and the deaths are 3. Though India know that if like other countries the outbreak will be so speed then to stop that will be a like an impossible task. So the three measures i.e. testing, contact Tracing and quarantine are strictly followed. India had ordered a good number of testing kits from Germany to   test these viruses from the mild step itself. Many testing labs are being made available. And if a case was found positive the people with whom the suspected person or infected person had contacted with in any manner along with their family members were being tested. This is called contact Tracing. And if this process is not followed then this can be a great mistake to allow these virus transmission. Every pandemic follow 4 stages viz. 1. Confirmed cases from some other countries, 2. Beginning of local transmission , 3. Communities impacted with local transmission and 4. significant transmission with no end in sight. China , south Korea and Italy ate in the fourth stage while India is currently in the 2nd stage i.e. the beginning of local transmission which is the mist crucial stage from where the actual pandemic begins.

So the Indian government had declared the quarantine period of 1month . This 1 month is so crucial that if not followed then like china and Italy India will  be one country. The closing of schools and colleges , malls, public gathering etc. Are effect of this cause. Many are even cured from these pandemic and Indian  govt. Tries to make the transmission curve flat in India . So please support the govt because together we can fight against corona.

One Sided Love

It’s so deep indeed
Sublime and soft;
The looks that don’t matter the charisma I least bother;
It’s rather a moment of bliss
When one falls for another,
Unconditional such a blissful surrender;
Believing the beloved to be the soulmate, oh dear,
The ebbs of emotions that rise to pluck the stars for her;
True love they call it
Deep within and unmaterialistic;
When one begins to feel her in the pulses, in the ceaseless beats of heart,
When one is eager to render a caressing touch, oodles of concerns that jostling thought;
Alas! The beloved knows not
The ripples in my heart
One-sided a love it is,
Perhaps God nods for this;
Instances of love from both sides,
Are scarce and rare, in the world so selfish;
The mysteries of destiny maybe hidden in the heaven,
Yet, oh dear! You will be with me, for my heart is your haven;
And I leave it to God for His grace, in me His presence,
For the voice of true love is heard in the depth of silence.
